SLOCOG special studies, services and projects include the Regional Disadvantaged Communities Assessment, Broadband, Land Acquisition and Coastal Regional Sediment Management Plans.
Morro Bay Estuary Climate Resiliency Transportation Plan
SLOCOG launched the Morro Bay Estuary Climate Resilience Transportation Plan in spring 2024 with funding from Caltrans. This project develops solutions to improve car and bicycle transportation and public access between Morro Bay and Los Osos. Another goal of the project is to protect the habitats of the estuary and State Parks.
Regional Definition of Disadvantaged Communities
The SLOCOG board approved the Disadvantaged Communities Assessment on June 2, 2021, for use in the 2023 RTP and the 2022 Programming Cycle. Creating a regional definition of disadvantaged communities for the San Luis Obispo region allows SLOCOG to better compete for grant funding, distribute funds more equitably, and meet the state and federal environmental justice requirements.
