SLOCOG is initiating a second round of grant funding for transportation projects throughout the region that improve safety, mobility, access, and supports public health goals. The grant program objectives aim to:
- Support local agency planning processes and priorities.
- Document local agency public engagement process(es)
- Evaluate how diversity, equity, and inclusion are part of the local planning process
- Support statewide goals to reduce GHG and vehicle miles travel Integrate best practices, where appropriate, specific to safety and mobility

About Community Betterments
Community Betterments is a catch-all term for smaller scale community level infrastructure improvements that support sustainable transportation goals set by SLOCOG and SLOCOG’s member agencies. Funding for the program includes uncommitted funds from the Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) and CMAQ and CRP. Priority shall be given to projects that have demonstrated performance benefits in mobility and accessibility, safety and security, and healthy communities. The guidelines for Cycle 2 will be developed in fall 2023, additionally a Call for Projects is anticipated in early November/December 2023.
