Internship Opportunity (Temporary paid)

The San Luis Obispo Council of Governments is preparing to conduct its annual Average Vehicle Occupancy (AVO) counts, and is looking for 2+ student interns to conduct them. The internship would be for two weeks during the first few weeks of October (10/8/2018—10/19/2018).

Interested students would need to be available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays during the hours of 6:30am-9:30am and 3:30pm-6:30pm. Actual counts would occur between 7:00am-9:00am and 4:00pm-6:00pm but we are allowing for 30 minutes of travel time to the four count locations, which will be paid. It is not required that interns work all 3 weekdays but be available to work at least one day a week during count hours. Interns must have reliable transportation to and from count sites.

This is a paid temporary internship (contract intern) with a range of $11.53 - $15.85 per hour, depending on previous experience. Following the AVO Counts in October, interns may be considered for an extended internship position which would last through the fall quarter and possibly winter quarter. Students interested in an extended internship must have experience in the following areas:

  • Tabular data analysis using Excel

  • Spatial Analysis using ESRI products

  • Proven writing capability

  • Have a basic understanding of the region’s transportation network, governing bodies, and municipal documents

Please have interested students contact Daniel Audelo at daudelo@slocog.org with their resume and cover letter. Students must be able to provide a valid form of identification if selected.
