Railroad Safety Trail

This project, led by the City of San Luis Obispo, is a portion of the Anza Trail that runs from Cal Poly to Tank Farm Road, envisioned to one day serve as a connector to the Coastal Trail and eventually the Chorro Valley Trail. The City of San Luis Obispo was awarded an Active Transportation Program grant from the California Transportation Commission to complete the segment of the Railroad Safety Trail from Taft St. to Pepper St. Design of this segment is underway. It is expected to go out to bid in late 2018, and construction is expected to begin in 2019. For more information,  please click here

In April 2017, the City of San Luis Obispo completed an important connection by building a Class I sidepath on Orcutt Road from the trail’s current terminus to Laurel Ln. This helps lead trail users to cross Orcutt Road at a signalized intersection with a WALK signal.  It also will help to facilitate the future extension of the trail south to Tank Farm Road.  For more information, click here
